How to Fix a Loose Wheel Bearing on a Bike

In this video I demonstrate how to repair a bicycle wheel which has bearings which aren’t tight enough and therefore the wheel is floppy or wobbly. I show how you can check for this by holding the tire and rocking it back and forth from side to side to check for play or clicking movement. The repair involves using a cone wrench to unlock one of the two cones and readjusting it correctly before locking it again with the lock nut. This tutorial is suitable for both rear and front wheels, and covers solid axles along with quick release axles. To help understand how the different parts of the wheel bearing work, I’ve also included a brief demonstration of the assembly of a wheel bearing.
